Abstract

The UVP-Gesellschaft generally supports faster planning procedures, but criticises key aspects of the amendment proposal to the Federal Building Code (BauGB). In particular, we warn against weakening environmental assessment and public participation, as well as against making it easier to develop exterior areas. These changes could undermine environmental protection and promote urban sprawl whilst creating new legal uncertainties.
